ACLER

Established in 2014 by Australian design duo Julia Ritorto & Kathryn Forth, Acler had a clear brand ethos from the very beginning — the concept of clarity was fundamental in its inception, not only represented in the aesthetic, but also the design methodology.

When creating a brand name, the designers used scrabble letters to rearrange words which reflected this ethos, and the word ‘clear’ became Acler. Ritorto and Forth sought to rebel against the cookie-cutter digital design that has become common place within the fashion industry. Their determination was to bring the design process back to its fundamentally tactile roots, evolving the process of traditional pattern making.

Each collection shows meticulous construction and promotes longevity of design. Acler embodies modern femininity both in the soft silhouettes, but also in sculptural shapes which embrace the female form. There is a strong focus on textural fabrication with intricate lace, linen, embellished cotton and silk satin highlighting each range. These materials are utilised in both structural tailoring, high volume shapes and soft draping for the ultra-feminine.

Acler continues to deliver hero stories in shirting, denim, bonded scuba, lace & suiting. Colour palettes are subtle and tonal, with clean shades of nudes, white, staple black and a hint of colour.

Acler is stocked in over 30 countries worldwide and has fast become the new guard of Australian design, supported by major stockists including Moda Operandi, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harvey Nichols, David Jones, Intermix and more. Ritorto & Forth continue to push the boundaries in all elements of their craft, ensuring they stay true to their vision of elegant design for the modern woman.
